SIOC Bursary Application 2024 – The SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) is thrilled to unveil its much-anticipated bursary program for the 2024 academic year.

ABOUT SIOC BURSARY PROGRAMME – STUDY FIELDS

You must be enrolled or intending to enrol in one of the listed fields of study for your 2024 application to be considered:

  • Agriculture: Agricultural economist, Agricultural engineer, Food technologist, Environmental officer, Food technician, Livestock product analyst, Veterinarian.
  • Business Management and Economics: Accounting, Actuarial Science, Auditing and Tax, Economics, Project Management, Statistics, and mathematics.
  • Education: BEd. Foundation Phase, BEd. Natural Science, BEd. FET Mathematics, BEd. FET Physical Science, Economics and Management Science, BEd. Language, BEd. Special Needs.
  • Engineering and Science: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental health, Geology, Quantity Surveying, Town planning.
  • Health and Clinical-related Sciences: Advanced EMS, Biochemistry, Chemical, Biological, Medical Lab sciences, Dentistry, MBChB, Nursing, Pharmacy.
  • Information Technology: Computer Sciences and communication, Data Science or Analytics, Software Development, Web design, and development.
  • Law: LLB.
  • Tourism: Arts and Culture Heritage, Ecotourism Management, Hospitality Management.

WHAT DOES SIOC BURSARY PAY FOR?

The bursary will generously cater for the following expenses while you focus on your academics:

  • Registration and tuition fees.
  • Accommodation.
  • Prescribed study material.
  • Laptop and a monthly stipend.

Additionally, students with disabilities will receive assistive devices to enhance their learning experience.

SIOC BURSARY ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for this incredible opportunity, applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria:

  • South African citizenship.
  • Age under 35 years old at the closing date.
  • Currently in Matric (in 2023) or have completed Matric.
  • Studying or intending to study towards an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in one of the listed fields.
  • Minimum overall average of 65% in the most recent academic results.
  • Accepted to study at a recognized public institution (University/ University of Technology/ TVET/ FET College) in South Africa in 2024.
  • In need of financial assistance, with a household income of less than R600 000 per year.
  • Preference given to students with disabilities.
  • Preference given to undergraduate students.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SIOC BURSARY

Applicants must either reside in or originate from one of the beneficiary areas:

  • Thabazimbi Local Municipality (Limpopo).
  • Gamagara Local Municipality (Northern Cape).
  • Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality (Northern Cape).
  • Tsantsabane Local Municipality (Northern Cape).
  • Joe Morolong Local Municipality (Northern Cape).
