LGSETA Bursary Description

LGSETA bursary – The Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) invites individual / students interested in the local government to apply for the Discretionary Grants Bursary 1st Funding Window in support of the LGSETA Strategic Plan and Annual Performance Plan targets.

Lgseta Bursary Eligibility Criteria

  • South African students and those with permanent residence status.
  • University, University of Technology and TVET Colleges (NATED programmes) students or Grade 12 learners who have been accepted in institutions of higher learning.
  • Students who are registered for a course/qualification that is in line with local government sector.
  • Priority will be given to studies that relate to the sector priority occupations and interventions (SPOI) List. Please refer to the list of qualifications on the LGSETA website.
  • Only students that are studying full time will be funded.

Instructions When Returning Your Application

Individual bursary application must be submitted by each student/learner through LGSETA website as outlined in the bursary application user manual (No applications should be sent via email addresses or hand delivered).

The application window opens on 09 October 2022 at 8:00 am and closes on the 01 November at 23:59 (midnight). The deadline will not be extended. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

The List of qualifications that will be funded is accessible from the LGSETA website www.lgseta.org.za

Documents Needed

  1. Certified copy of your ID Document.
  2. If you are in your first year at an institution, include a certified copy of your Grade 12 results, and
    continuing students must include previous year academic results.
  3. Attach highest grade and qualification achieved including results.
  4. Attach proof of registration
  5. Fee structure (Quotation, Account statement or invoice from the institution), books and residence costs.
  6. Proof of Income/ Affidavit (for unemployed), and certified ID copies of parent/guardian.
